When I traveled the state of Tennessee for many years, I got to the point that I would intentionally try to find shorter routes just to break up the boredom of the road. I always felt gratified when I could get to my destination in a shorter amount of time!
In life, we all like the least path to resistance, and if possible, we want to preserve time, energy and resource. I oft times wonder if we are getting so short cut oriented, that we are seeking to accomplish a 5 minute workout in one minute.
While there are areas of life that obviously are worth seeking shortcuts, our relationship with God is not one of those areas.
To serve Him properly, to worship in Spirit and in truth, your walk with Jesus calls for careful and intentional measures.
There is no shortcut for prayer!
There is no shortcut for Bible study!
There is no shortcut for faithfulness!
In all of these areas and others our efforts to take shortcuts will oft times bring us to undesired destinations.
Authentic servanthood moves us to do things properly, decently and in order. When we take shortcuts we oft times miss crucial experiences.
So, next time you want to take a shortcut, ask yourself, "Is it really worth it?"
When we stand before our Savior, there will be a reckoning!
